Sample collection & postage

How to collect and send your samples

Follow these steps to collect, label, pack and post your Routine Faecal Egg Count sample.

How much to send per animal

This is the amount to send, allowing enough material for testing and repeats. It is not the smaller amount the laboratory uses when it prepares the test.

Routine Faecal Egg Count

Approximately 15 g

per animal (Modified McMaster).

Step by step

  1. Collect

    • Collect fresh faeces.
    • Send the amount shown above for each animal.
    • Use a separate clean, leakproof container for each sample.
    • Avoid contamination with soil or bedding.
  2. Register, pay and label

    • Register each sample in the Moore Biological customer portal.
    • Complete online payment or apply prepaid test credits. Labels are available in the portal only after payment or test credits have been applied.
    • Print the QR sample label.
    • Attach the QR label to the body or side of the sample container, not the lid.
  3. Seal and pack

    • Seal each container securely.
    • Place the containers inside a leakproof secondary bag.
    • Pack them securely for transport.
    • Keep samples cool or refrigerated where practical. Do not freeze.
  4. Address and post

    • After payment or test credits have been applied, print the delivery address label from the customer portal.
    • Attach the address label to the outside of the parcel, not to an individual sample container.
    • If you registered a batch, also print the packing slip and place it inside the parcel.
    • Send samples promptly. Where practical, post early in the week to avoid unnecessary postal delay.
    • Delivery time depends on Australia Post or your chosen carrier and is separate from laboratory turnaround. See the postage cost guide.
  5. Mark as sent

    • After you have actually lodged the parcel for postage, mark the sample or batch as sent in the customer portal. You can add an optional tracking number.
    • Marking as sent tells the laboratory to expect the parcel, so only do it once it has been posted.
